The 11th International conference on hydraulic efficiency measurement (IGHEM2016) will be held at the Johannes Kepler University Linz, Austria, 24.-26. August, 2016, hosted by Prof. Dr. Gittler, Institute of Fluid Mechanics and Heat Transfer. The conference will be organized by Josef Steinmassl from Andritz Hydro, with the support of the IGHEM committee.
The conference will provide a forum for engineers from industry and research establishments to present new results, exchange ideas and to discuss directions of future developments.
Conference Topics
The conference will be focused on the experimental, theoretical and computational approaches enhancing measurements in hydraulic power plants, including, but not limited to:
Importance of the efficiency evaluation of hydro power plants and hydro systems
Efficiency and hydraulic behavior prediction by CFD analysis and/or model testing
Site testing as decision making tool for old plants
Instrumentation and calibration of testing devices
Case studies of efficiency measurements
Acoustic and dilution methods
Current meter and velocity area methods
Pressure time and differential pressure methods
Thermodynamic method and new efficiency measuring techniques
Data acquisition systems and data processing
Data analysis and assessment of uncertainties in measurements
Unit management and plant monitoring for best efficiency operation
Aims and requirements of test standards
Tour
The tour on Saturday will give some insights to steel milling in Linz and to a hydraulic laboratory for model turbine testing.

The Johannes Kepler University is one of the universities in Linz.
There are the faculties of Social Sciences, Economics and Business (SOWI), Law (RE) and Engineering and Natural Sciences (TN). 2014 a faculty of Medicine (MED) was added.
For the tram and bus there are two kinds of tickets:
"MAXI-Ticket": valid for 24h for Bus and Tram within the core zone of Linz (excluding the Pöstlingbergbahn)
Weekly Ticket: valid for 7 days for Bus and Tram within the core zone of Linz (excluding the Pöstlingbergbahn)
Tickets can be bought at most stations, at Linz AG Shop and kiosks.
Directions to the University
The Johannes Kepler University is in the north part of Linz. It can easily be reached by car, taxi or best with the tram way number 1 and 2 where the University is the northern end station.
If you want to explore Linz, it's better to go to a hotel in the city center and take the tram to the university.
It is also possible to get a room in the student hostel Julius Raab Heim nearby the University.
